AgeBetter with Staff who are Educated and Trained in Caring for Older Adults
An ample and talented workforce that can serve the unique needs of older adults is paramount to AgeBetter’s agenda toward building a vibrant community in which seniors receive quality care, life enrichment opportunities, and residential services.
That’s why AgeBetter, Inc., is investing in training and education programming that will yield excellent care and service while also providing a pathway to build satisfying careers in long-term care.
The programming, still under development, will feature both online learning and in-person classroom options at a central location that reduces barriers, especially for those relying on public transport. Courses and sessions will be promoted to organizations that serve older adults and to the general public. We envision aging services organizations will enroll new and existing staff members for skills training and professional development.
Proposed offerings for the education, training, and professional development of those currently working with older adults or those new to the field:
- CNA Training: A CNA training program and testing approved by the State of Wisconsin
- CBRF Training: A state-required training for all staff members of Community-Based Residential Facilities (CBRF), plus additional programming for those seeking employment as a Resident Assistant
- Continuing Education for Skills Development: Specialized skills training on topics such as the care of wounds, tracheotomy tubes, catheters, and the like
- Continuing Education on Specific Health Issues: Education and training about specific diseases, conditions and treatments affecting older adults, such as dementia, mental health issues, Parkinson’s Disease, diabetes, and more
- First Aid and CPR Training
- AED Training
- Basic Computer Skills Training
- Continuing Education on “Soft Skills”: Non-technical training and education on topics such as leadership, mentoring, team building, customer service, relating to family members, English as a Second Language, financial literacy, stress management, caregiver fatigue, and more
